Sustainability reception brings campus partners together

Members of the University community, including students, faculty, and staff, convened at the David Rubenstein Forum on May 11 for a sustainability reception to celebrate the ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year award, achieved by the University for the second year in a row.  Remarks were given by Katie Callow-Wright, executive vice president, and Mike Zatz, chief, market sectors group, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  Hors d’oeuvres and beverages were served and members of Facilities Operations Energy Services and Sustainability, Office of Sustainability, Office of the Provost, Biological Sciences Division, Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation, Physical Sciences Division, the Center for Robust Decision-making on Climate and Energy Policy, Program on the Global Environment, the College, and Harris School of Public Policy had an opportunity to converse and celebrate shared accomplishments and contributions to the advancement of sustainability at the University of Chicago.

“We are excited to share the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award with our many partners and collaborators across the University of Chicago Campus.  The same spirit of cooperation and partnership between students, faculty, and staff that won two consecutive ESPOY awards will be required to meet the University’s 50% greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal.”
