April 21st Events:

Park Stewardship on the Midway 

Help with park clean up, assess the gardens and green spaces, and share ideas regarding the Midway's Framework Plan. Also, bring a ball or frisbee, a picnic blanket, and some friends to enjoy the park after your good deeds! 
1 p.m. - 4 p.m. 
At the Midway. Meet by the Women's Memorial Bench on the east side of the train track hill.

Landscapes of Hope

Presented in partnership with the Program for the Global Environment (PGE) and Chicago Studies at the Seminary Co-op Bookstore
Brian McCammack discusses Landscapes of Hope: Nature and the Great Migration in Chicago. He will be joined in conversation by Adam Green. A Q/A and signing will follow the discussion.

Earth Day of Service - Hosted by University Community Service Center  

The UCSC is looking for 60 UChicago students, staff, faculty, and alumni to join us on this national celebration of Earth Day. Volunteers will be matched to one of four South Side community garden service sites to prepare for spring planting. Transportation will be provided to and from campus. 
10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Hyde Park Clean Up 

Spend this Earth Day giving back by cleaning up the litter in your community! Volunteers can register to work in teams (4+ students) and teams will have the opportunity to compete for the most trash collected by weight. Stop by the basement of Reynolds anytime between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to start!

The Environment as a Human Rights Issue

Join Phoenix Sustainability Initiative (PSI) as we welcome Jacqueline Patterson, Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program, for a discussion about environmental justice and its intersection with racial and gender justice. The event will be moderated by Mark Templeton, clinical professor at the University of Chicago Law School and director of the Abrams Environmental Law Clinic.
