Composting food waste keeps valuable organic material out of the landfill and can be reused in gardens, yards, or other urban agriculture projects.

Why trash your leftover dinner when you can feed it to the worms instead? University of Chicago dining halls have been composting for years.

Leave the following items on your tray for composting:

Bartlett

  • All leftover food
  • 100% recyclable napkins
  • NEW: beverage cups


Pierce

  • All leftover food
  • 100% recyclable napkins
  • Hot beverage paper cups
  • Stir sticks
  • Paper ice cream bowls


Burton-Judson

  • All leftover food
  • 100% recyclable napkins
  • Hot beverage paper cups
  • Stir sticks
  • Paper ice cream bowls
