SAGE
Sustainable Actions for a Greener Environment - SAGE - reflects the dual dimensions of the Office of Sustainability’s core message around environmental awareness: We’re not just green; we’re green and smart.
SAGE Advice
SAGE advice provides simple, clearly stated steps that an individual can take now to reduce his or her environmental footprint while also accruing economic benefits. These individual actions, when taken collectively, add up to real change and real savings. SAGE posters are the first step in a dynamic campaign to engage the campus in making the University of Chicago more sustainable.
SAGE Ambassadors
SAGE Ambassadors are trained faculty, staff and students who serve as sustainability ambassadors to their peers. They are mobile members of the University community who, in addition to providing SAGE advice, care about getting the record straight on (among many things) how you can recycle, where you can buy CFL bulbs, and where you can recycle batteries.
SAGE Pledge
Once trained by staff from the Office of Sustainability, SAGE Ambassadors are asked to pledge to commit at least 5 hours each quarter towards sustainability initiatives. Pledges may be electronically submitted to the Office of Sustainability. Opportunities for hours include:
- Serving on a SAGE Committee
- Tabling and other activities at sustainability events
- One-on-one peer education about sustainability on campus
- Leading an independent sustainability initaive in your office/ department/ dorm
- Disseminating sustainability information by posting sloyers and/or forwarding notices to friends and colleagues
Are you interested in becoming a SAGE Ambassador? SAGE trainings are conducted on a quarterly basis—send an email to officeofsustainability@uchicago.edu to your name added to the list for the next SAGE training.
