Raising Awareness about Sustainability

June 2008

Zoé VanGelder wants you to know that it’s easy being green.

The student co-chair of the University’s Sustainability Council, VanGelder works to raise awareness on the campus about the importance of environmental sustainability efforts. Leading by example as well as by education, she demonstrates the ability of individuals and communities to effect positive change.

In support of sustainability efforts, VanGelder has led a variety of campus initiatives, such as workshops devoted to vermiculture composting. She’s also helped create a campus-wide policy on sustainable purchasing.

Through these efforts and more, VanGelder hopes to convince every faculty member, student, and staff member on campus that it's easy being green.
