Sustainability gets a new home on 53rd Street

November 2013

There’s been a lot of talk these days about the development on 53rd Street. In fact, there’s even a new site devoted to it. With a new hotel, Akira, CorePower Yoga, LA Fitness Signature Club, Chipotle, a 12-story office tower, etc., etc., we have to say we’re excited, too. As of November 15, the Office of Sustainability will be housed in Harper Court, the latest green building for the University.

LEED feathers for Harper Court’s hat

Harper Court has already achieved LEED Gold Certification. Not only that, the group responsible for the project is also pursuing LEED Core & Shell certification on the retail, parking, and office spaces, LEED commercial interiors, for the office spaces, and LEED New Construction on the hotel. If all four LEED certifications are earned, this project will be the first in the country to attain such a complex certification. You can read more about the LEED certification here.
