We’ve added a new member to the Sustainability crew—an Engagement Coordinator! This is the first time the office has had such a position, and we have to say we’re excited. Her name is Berkley and she’s thrilled to be kickstarting the Engagement Coordinator role.
Berkley will be coordinating communications and promoting the work of the Office of Sustainability. She’s also here to help us coordinate with and provide support to student groups working to make UChicago a more sustainable place to live, work and learn. She’ll be handling the SAGE program and is your new go-to for information on SAGE Certifications, the SAGE Czar program, and the SAGE committees.
Berkley’s a St. Louis native, but most recently lived in Boston, MA where she worked for sustainability advocate Ceres. Ceres works with leading companies, investors, policymakers and NGOs to advance sustainable solutions and build a thriving global economy. While at Ceres, Berkley focused on freshwater issues. She was a panelist at World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden, led stakeholder engagements on sustainability topics with Ceres member companies, and coordinated with a range of NGOs and investors working to advance water stewardship.
Berkley holds a Master of Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Environment Studies from Yale University. While at Yale, she conducted community ecology research in the New England Meadow and South African Savanna ecosystems. She’s an avid sports fan, former competitive coxswain, and proud owner of an English Bulldog. She can’t wait to work with you – so keep an eye out for her updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas!
