Bike2Campus Week 2015: Get on two wheels!

April 2015

Bike2Campus Week: Ride, Record, Reward

Bike2Campus Week is part challenge, part competition. Beginning April 20, twelve participating Colleges and Universities will be challenging its students, staff and faculty to consider biking as a primary mode of travel on campus. As part of Bike2Campus’ competition component, participants can track their bicycle trips and share progress via social-media platforms. At the end of the week, the top pedaler who logs the most trips via the Bike2Campus website will be selected as the winner. Prizes will be awarded throughout the week, along with a grand prize for the overall winning campus!

The event encourages participants to learn bike safety tips, reduce greenhouse emissions, practice healthy lifestyles, and to simply enjoy the ride. Through education, partnerships and outreach, the Bike2Campus Coalition hopes to help increase ridership and improve riding conditions throughout our region. In so doing, we will be helping support a mindset geared toward a healthier and more sustainable society.

Three Ways to Win Prizes

Chicago’s Top Biking Campus
The campus with the highest participation based on bicycle trips logged during the week, and weighted with campus population wins this top category. At the end of the competition, the winning campus will be calculated and announced.

Prize: Trophy created by DIVVY, and Chicago-wide cycling glory.

Instagram Contest - #chibike2campus
During Bike2Campus Week, participants are welcome to post photographs. These photos can be of you and your bicycle, your biking commutes, or just your bicycle. Be creative! The photograph at the end of the week with the most “likes” will be the winner.

Prize: Working Bikes Package (helmet, t-shirt, coozie and pint glass), and social-media bragging rights.

Top Pedalers at the University of Chicago
UChicago will be rewarding the top-two pedalers on campus. All bike trips made during the week of April 20 to 24 count, be it a bike trip to campus or to a location off campus.

Prize: Two tickets to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and a year-long Divvy Membership.
